Speaker Information + Resources

I’m so excited to team up with you to create an incredible event for the childless community.

The second annual Childless Collective Summit is a 4-day virtual event on July 14-17, 2022 that will help those in our childless community find support, healing, and connection.

On this page, you’ll find all kinds of resources meant to make your role as a speaker as easy as possible and answer any questions you might have. If you run into a question I didn’t answer, email me at katy@chasingcreation.org.

All speakers receive compensation and free access to the Extended Access Pass!

The Basics

Let’s do a quick rundown of how the whole event will work.

The event will run from July 14-17, 2022 with 9 pre-recorded presentations running each day. These presentations will include 20-30 minutes of content, a worksheet that follows along with or complements the presentation, and a live chat. In addition to the pre-recorded presentations, we’ll also offer a few live, interactive sessions during the event. Attendees have free access to each day’s presentations for 24 hours.

While the presentations themselves are pre-recorded, all speakers are asked to attend their presentation time live to interact with attendees in the chat box. There is no video component to the chat, so feel free to show up comfy! To create additional opportunities for engagement, there will be a Facebook group for attendees to hang out in, talk about the sessions, and ask speakers additional questions. Speakers are welcome to engage with attendees in the Facebook group throughout the event.

Leading up to the summit, we’ll have about a month of promotion. You’ll be provided with email swipe copy, social media swipe copy, and social media graphics to make it all easy! I’ll even have a suggested posting/sending schedule for you to make promotion simple. There’s no requirement to promote, but it’s much appreciated!

During the promotion phase, as the summit is running, and a few days post-summit, we’ll also be promoting an Extended Access Pass. The pass includes extended access to the summit presentations. This provides a way for attendees to catch sessions they missed or want to re-visit, while allowing you to bring in affiliate commissions (if you choose to participate in the affiliate program). You can learn more about speaker payment and the affiliate program below.

What I'll Need from You

So this all sounds great, but what kind of work does it require of you? You’ll find all the details below. My goal is to make this as easy as possible to participate and provide support and connection to the childless community.

1. BASIC INFORMATION

The first thing I’ll need is some very basic information from you so I can create our registration page and speakers page.

This includes things like:

  • Name
  • Title
  • Bio
  • Square headshot
Once you give me the thumbs up that you’re in, I’ll send you a link where you can upload all of this information easily. I’ll also send you an agreement for both of us to sign that outlines your participation in the summit and what I’m providing in return. This information will be due by March 1.

2. PRESENTATION SLOT SCHEDULED

Next, you’ll decide what topic you’d like to speak on and schedule your presentation slot. Each day has a theme so you’ll select the day that best fits with the content of your presentation.

To help you start brainstorming, I’ve included the themes below as well as some topics that consistently came up in a survey of almost 200 attendees from the 2021 summit. Feel free to reach out if you’d like to talk through ideas.

  • July 14: Sharing Our Stories (examples: different paths to childlessness, the power of narrative, statistics and demographics of the community, etc.)
  • July 15: Finding Healing (examples: navigating a pronatalist society, forgiving your body, self-compassion, grief, triggers, infertility and PTSD, building resiliency, managing invasive questions, reconnecting w/ sexuality, etc.)
  • July 16: Making Connections (examples: friendships, finding new community, redefining family, support systems for singles, navigating family relationships, impact on marriages/partnerships, sex, etc.)
  • July 17: Looking Ahead (examples: perks of a life w/out kids, celebrating our accomplishments, finding  purpose, identity, what we create/nurture, aging, creating a plan b, legacy, finding interests/hobbies, creating new traditions, etc.)

For now, I’m hoping speakers will start brainstorming their topic and which day it best fits under. I’ll send a scheduling link in a few weeks. While your presentation will be pre-recorded, we’d still love to have you join us live in the chat during your time slot to answer questions and connect with attendees.

3. PRESENTATION

Next up is your presentation! This is a 20-30 minute pre-recorded presentation that is meant to be more friendly and casual than perfect and structured. We want our attendees to learn something great, while having fun in the process.

Please structure your content in a way that allows attendees to walk away feeling like they’ve really learned something they can apply to their life post-summit.

With that being said, you have your choice of the following presentation formats:

  • Presentation w/ slides
  • Presentation w/out slides
  • Interview-style

If you’d like to go with the interview style presentation, let me know and we can schedule a time to record the interview. We’ll work together to come up with questions.

No matter what format you choose, you are free to use your presentation however you’d like post-summit.

Your presentation should include great, actionable content. Here’s the suggested format (this may vary depending on the format you select):

  • A quick introduction
  • An overview of your topic
  • Teaching section
  • Specific action steps
  • Up to a 3-minute pitch (if you offer a product or services)
  • Conclusion
  • Include questions for attendees to answer in the chat box throughout to boost engagement.

If you’d like to brainstorm topics or format together, let me know, I’m happy to co-create with you.

Recorded presentations are due by May 15, 2022.

5. PROMOTION

The power of an online summit comes from a community coming together for a single cause. The joint promotion that happens because of that is a huge benefit to everyone involved. Last year, this led to over 2,300 people signing up for the summit and the videos from our 28 speakers had over 17,000 views!

To help our event get the most reach possible, everyone is encouraged (but not required) to share on social media and to email their lists during the promotion period, starting on June 20, 2022.

If you choose to participate in the affiliate program, any promotion you do will include your affiliate link and you’ll receive a 50% commission on all Extended Access Pass sales that come in through your link.

You’ll find swipe copy and graphics in the Resource Vault below.

6. LIVE PARTICIPATION

And last comes participation during the week of the event. Since we’ll already have done the work of creating the presentations and extra resources, we’ll be able to sit back and relax for the most part!

All I ask is that you participate in the chat during your presentation slot and interact in the Facebook group throughout the week to help attendees stay excited and engaged.

While you are not required to attend the events of other speakers, it’s highly encouraged! We’ll be able to get some great discussions going about the topics being presented.

Affiliate Program and Speaker Payment

While summits are great for overall visibility and making new connections, every speaker will receive $150, regardless of whether you participate in the affiliate program. Payments will be sent through Paypal or Venmo on August 1.

You’ll also have the opportunity to participate in an optional affiliate program for the Extended Access Pass. If you choose to participate, you’ll receive a 50% commission from all sales from traffic you refer to the event. Payouts will be made on August 1 and again on August 15.

Here’s how it works. All attendees can register and access all of the summit presentations for free during the event. Each day’s presentations will be available for 24 hours from when they are made available to attendees. If attendees would like access to any of the presentations after that window, they have the option to purchase an Extended Access Pass.

As an affiliate, you will receive a unique link to promote the Childless Collective Summit and the Extended Access Pass. Using a program that tracks affiliate links, I will be able to see if someone visits the registration page, registers, or purchases an Extended Access Pass using your unique link.

Since we are a close community with an overlap of networks, I am also offering a 60 day, first referral lock in. This means that if someone doesn’t purchase an Extended Access Pass the first time it’s offered, but they decide to purchase one within that 60 day time period, the commission will go to the affiliate whose link was used the first time the purchaser visited the summit website.

As a speaker affiliate, you will receive a 50% commission on all Extended Access Pass sales purchased through your unique affiliate link (or when the purchaser’s first visit to the website is traced to your affiliate link). The first $150 made through your affiliate link will be considered part of your initial speaker payment. If you end up making less than $150 through the affiliate program, you will still receive a full $150 payment.

This year, we’ll be keeping it simple by offering just one type of Extended Access Pass which will sale for $97, which means you’ll receive $48.50 in commission for each pass sold through your affiliate link.

To make it as easy as possible for you to generate extra income, the Resource Vault includes things like email swipe copy, social media copy, and social share graphics. However, you’re more than welcome to write your own copy.

If you choose to participate in the affiliate program, I’ll send you step-by-step instructions to guide you through the steps. It’s super easy!

As with all affiliate promotions, be sure to disclose that you’re an affiliate when sharing with your audience.
